What’s the weirdest coincidence you’ve ever experienced?

I believe that there is no such thing as a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. But every now and then things happen at nearly the same time where you can’t readily see the reason behind it.

But timing is everything. While bad things happen to people all the time, why would bad things happen to two family members at nearly the same time?

This past winter my husband was severely ill and hospitalized at the same time as his mother was also severely ill and at the end of her life several states away. They were close and had circumstances been different, he would have been at her side.  

I often wondered why these events overlapped like this. Would there have been an accident involving our family? There was a major snowstorm affecting all the areas we would have been traveling through or above. It was his sickness that kept us safely at home during that storm. I wonder what would have happened if we were traveling instead.

If we had been on the road, he would have been driving. (He is the only driver in our family.) If we were flying, we could have been stuck in a layover spot. There were many cancelled and delayed flights. I am not sure if there were any other major events that we could have been involved in during that time as I had been focused on my husband and our girls.

There was a lot of snow in that storm. Many places received more than they ever had. At home, we received two feet of snow. How did the powers of the universe align the timing so that my husband would be hospitalized instead of our family traveling to see his mother?  

I am not sure the storm was the reason for this. If it was, though, then the powers of the universe has been hard at work for many months, laying the groundwork. My husband’s illness was traced to an injury he received last autumn.

Know that his mother is at peace now. He had said goodbye in person last autumn and on the phone at the end. But it would have been nice if he had been there instead of at medical facilities with his own illness.
