What are your favorite 5 apps on your phone?

While most who read this may think I am ’out of the know’ or very ‘old school’, I don’t use many apps on my phone these days.

Top 5 Most Used

I mainly use my phone for work so some of the apps I use most are work related. Outside of work, though…

I have been off most social media for the last ten years, so I mostly use ‘functional’ apps. The apps I use most often are an email app that handles all my personal email addresses, AccuWeather, Uber, banking apps and Messenger.

Favorite Phone Apps

I am not sure I can call these my favorites, but when on my phone I tend to go to these apps when I do not have a functional need. I only have 3 apps I can fit into this category: a game, a social app and an entertainment

Game App

I have one game on my phone now a days. Most of my game play is on pc and tablet. The one on my phone is 2048 Bricks. It is a good game for those times I need to keep busy and I only have my phone at hand. It is my fidget spinner of sorts. Moving the pieces around to match the numbers and watch as the values multiply as I go, it simple and does not take much thought. This game lets me come up with other more meaningful thoughts and ideas. Ideas that can be turned into stories.

Social App

Lately, I find myself scrolling through (not participating) my “neighbors’” posts on the NextDoor App. Most of these neighbors are not in my city, but are in other suburbs within 100 miles or so. Most of what they post do not apply to my area. But I am inspired by some of their stories. So, I keep opening the app.

Entertainment App

I love music and often open the SirusXm app to play some of my favorite bands across several different genres. I had expanded the service to my phone after a car had come with the service. I use it a lot and have not been disappointed. I like putting on earbuds and jamming. While I can’t carry a tune, I do sing out loud. Often.

Favorite Tablet Apps

eReader

I love reading! I was quick to purchase a reader decades ago when they were first a ‘cool’ thing… My current table is more of a portable Chromebook, but I still have my reading apps.My favorite, is the Nook app. I have full access to the hundreds of ebooks I have purchased from Barnes & Noble over the years. I feel connected to my library.

Streams & Videos

When reading is not possible, I am watching videos on YouTube, streams on Twitch or movies on Hulu. I have the table sitting on my desk when working and have something playing in the background. It helps my productivity. And it keeps my ‘office’ from being too quiet during the work night.

Games

I play cozy and logic games on my tablet. Three of them I like the most at Honey Grove, Color Maze and Nonogram Katana. Honey Grove is a cozy gardening merge game. I have a large flower garden and a small vegetable garden that I am building with the aid of honeybees. Color Maze is an arrow out puzzle game. It has pictures and geometric shapes made of neon-colored arrows on a black background. The goal is to free all the arrows without colliding with others. Nonogram Katana is a logic puzzle game where you make pictures based on the clues. This game has a lot of puzzles in both black & white and color.
